Frequently asked questions

Everything about donations, Stripe Climate, Frontier, and how we work.

Where does my donation actually go?

100% of your donation funds carbon removal. Fifty percent is contributed through Stripe Climate into Frontier’s full supplier portfolio, and the remaining 50% is directed by the Transnology Foundation to a more select set of Frontier-vetted permanent removal projects.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

No. Transnology is not yet a registered charity, so contributions are not tax-deductible. We state this everywhere donations are accepted.

What is the 50% purchase commitment?

Acosta AI is a Stripe Climate member. Fifty percent of every paid plan and purchase automatically funds carbon removal—displayed on the website and at Stripe checkout, and not adjustable per product. The Foundation’s 50% share applies only to donations.

What is your carbon removal goal?

We plan to remove 1,000,000 kg of carbon from the atmosphere by 2040. That equals one thousand metric tons of permanent CO₂ removal, funded through Acosta AI purchases and Foundation donations.

What is Frontier?

Frontier is the advance market commitment behind Stripe Climate, founded by Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, Meta, McKinsey, and tens of thousands of Stripe Climate businesses, committing an initial $1B+ to permanent carbon removal between 2022 and 2030. Frontier sources projects with 60+ external technical reviewers, monitors delivery, and retires tons only after independent verification.

Why “permanent” carbon removal instead of cheaper offsets?

Conventional offsets often avoid emissions rather than remove them, and storage can be short-lived. We fund technologies designed to store CO₂ for centuries or longer—direct air capture, enhanced weathering, biomass storage, mineralization, and ocean-based approaches—because reaching net zero requires removal capacity that lasts.

When is the carbon actually removed?

Because we purchase from early-stage technologies, tons typically take 2–5 years to be delivered and verified. The total removed may end up a little lower due to supplier failures, which are common in nascent fields.

How do you estimate impact figures?

We use Frontier’s portfolio weighted-average cost per ton ($375 USD). Formula: estimated kg = (contribution in USD ÷ $375) × 1,000. For AUD amounts we convert with an approximate FX rate (currently 0.7 USD per AUD). Contribution totals update within a few days of a purchase, but carbon figures are forward-looking and won’t change in step with contributions—delivery takes years.

Why be selective instead of supporting the whole portfolio?

Rather than spread support evenly across every supplier, the Foundation focuses on permanent removal pathways and individual projects where we believe early capital can have the greatest long-term impact—even when they are not the cheapest option today.

Can I verify your Stripe Climate membership?

Yes—our Stripe Climate profile is public. See the link below or in the site footer.

Do I get a receipt for my donation?

Yes. Stripe sends a payment receipt to your email address automatically after checkout completes. If you need a formal record, that receipt includes the transaction amount and date.

Can I set up a recurring monthly donation?

Recurring giving is available when you donate through your Acosta AI account. The direct Stripe checkout link on this page processes one-off donations only. Contact us if you would like to discuss a regular giving arrangement.

Is there a minimum donation amount?

Stripe imposes a minimum transaction of $0.50 USD (or equivalent). We recommend donating at least a few dollars so that transaction fees don't significantly reduce the amount that reaches removal projects.
